Jeremy Walsh of Bigfats Hot Sauce Chomps a Trinidad Scorpion

For those of you not in the know, the Trinidad Scorpion chile presently is the hottest pepper in the world. Whilst at the Bowers Chile Festival we got a reluctant volunteer to eat one. His name is Jeremy Walsh of Bigfats Hot Sauce. The pepper was picked by me, and it is fresher than a bag of new diapers. If you are entertained by this coerced act by fellow chilehead friend Steve Seabury of High River Sauces, then please visit his website www.Bigfatshotsauce.com. Without further adieu, enjoy Jeremy’s pain.

Trinidad scoprpion aside, that night was a lot of fun. Can’t say the same about the next morning. Thanks Buddah. You’re a peach.

Well you owned that pepper up . I cant wait for more hot sauce makers to start making stuff with the Trinidad Scorpion . I really dislike the ghost pepper , not for the heat but the flavor sucks . I am with buddah on this peeper .

Gotta disagree. I think the bhut jolokia has a much better, sweeter, fruitier flavor. Scorpions are a little too much on the bitter, floral side for me.

But if you’re referring to smoked jolokias, then I’m with you. I prefer them fresh and not smoked.

I know when I saw Johnny from Heartbreaking Dawns eat a scorpion he described it as floral too, which was what I was expecting. I didn’t get that at all from this one and just to be sure I tried another quarter of one last night and got the same flavor. Might just be the strain, soil, conditions etc. but I didn’t get any bitterness. That’s just my taste buds though. Maybe Buddah should try one since his peppers from the same place.

No thanks, but I will bring some for Scott to gobble down. I am thinking that it would be cool to do a Missouri Boyz throwdown. Two people, two scorpions at same time. :photographer:

No need to bring me any, Buddah. I’ve been growing my own Scorpions this year (Butch T, Yellow, Moruga) and there’s a big bowl with probably 50 fresh pods sitting in my kitchen now.

                    Jeremy,

I wanted to make a comment on your bravery. Eating that Scorpion – the hottest chile in the world – is something only a few humans will do. I am very impressed at your calmness after eating that bad boy. In my opinion you ARE a badass chile-head! I don’t know if I will handle it as calmly. But, I’m going to try soon.

Just wanted to offer KUDOS to ya, bro! Great vid!! Phil Lanza Sr. (Youtube.com/HotAsHellSeedCo) ~Burn In – Burn Out!~

On the Bhut vs. trini debate…they are very different peppers, which is good. When smoked, the trini is much better. As fresh, I like to cook with both of them, but I do like the trini flavor better. My favorite pepper now though? The Yellow 7 Pot…SO VERSATILE!!!

I have some yellow 7 pot powder. I made it with the dried yellow 7 pots I bought from Jim. I had to use a rolling pin though, since I broke the blender. I’m gonna try it on some spaghetti.

When me and Scott did that Ghost Wing challenge with the 5 million SHU extract, it burned when I peed. Maybe it was hot. Maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it just didn’t mix well with the beers I had. I am only sharing that because Buddah cracked me up with mentioning CUJ’s experience.
