REVIEW: Palmetto Pepper Potions – Trenholm Venom hot sauce

Trenholm Venom

This is our 2nd of 4 product reviews for Palmetto Pepper Potions as organized with Reid Edgar of SnazzyGourmet.com a website that sells all kinds of goodies including the entire hot sauce line of Palmetto Pepper Potions. The first review we did was for their Daily Red hot sauce which was reviewed by Dale Gilbert and Derrick Wood and can be seen HERE. This review we have Dale again and his cohort is Jacob Robertson.
A little about this sauce as taken from their website:

“Trenholm Rhymes with Venom. The name of a legendary shipping captain fits our hottest sauce yet. Trenholm Venom rages with fire-roasted red peppers, red habaneros, South Carolina peaches, a touch of ginger, garlic, fresh herbs and molasses. Savor it on salmon, oysters, scallops, shrimp, pork tenderloin, beef, lamb, veal, grilled chicken wings, sandwiches, cheeses and roasted vegetables.”

I found this unique recipe from their website using this hot sauce and I thought I would share it with y’all:

Trenholm Venom Carolina Caviar

2 cups cooked black-eyed peas (fresh, frozen or canned)
1 cup cooked white corn (fresh or frozen Silver Queen preferred)
1 cup fresh tomatoes, diced, or 1 can petite diced tomatoes, drained
½ cup red bell pepper, finely diced
½ cup sweet onion, finely diced
zest and juice of one fresh lime
1 tsp. sea salt
1 tablespoon fresh basil, minced
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
3 tablespoons Trenholm Venom hot sauce

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Best if prepared the day before to allow flavors to marry. Serve with tortilla chips and extra Trenholm Venom.

I would like to state that even though I was nowhere near as fond of this sauce as Dale was, that does not mean I consider it a bad sauce. For me, it simply lacked versatility, but that could just be a product of differing palates.
